En 1812 ve la luz una de las revistas médicas más importantes: The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). Para celebrar su 200 aniversario acaba de ser publicada una página web conmemorativa http://nejm200.nejm.org/
“In 2012, the New England Journal of Medicine celebrates 200 years of publishing practice-changing medical advances. Throughout 2012, NEJM will mark the anniversary with events, content, and applications that celebrate all those who contribute to and read the Journal, especially recognizing the vital connection between research and practice. The events begin in January with the launch of NEJM’s 200th anniversary website, and continue throughout the year with the publication of articles invited for the anniversary, the release of a documentary film that narrates three groundbreaking findings that transformed practice, and many more special events.”
La revista ofrece una cronología interactiva, History of Medical Discoveries, que permite al lector conocer los grandes acontecimientos que se han producido en la medicina a lo largo de estos 200 últimos años.
El visitante, utilizando el cursor, puede navegar a través de los siglos y seleccionar distintas áreas de la medicina, identificadas con diferentes colores. Cada imagen enlaza con la información histórica y con los artículos publicados en el NEJM.
La revista ofrece al lector la posibilidad de participar activamente comentando, votando los artículos más interesantes, enviando vídeos, etc.
